ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the biological basis of TCM syndromes from a biomolecules network perspective with qi deficiency syndrome as the breakthrough point. Methods A data dictionary of neuro-endocrine-immune (NEI) related genes and qi deficiency syndrome characterization terminology thesaurus were established. Literature about qi deficiency syndrome characterization was retrieved by using Genclip, to excavate the characteristic NEI gene, thereby to explore different bioactive substances of syndromes. Results The analysis of the genetic data, showed qi deficiency related cluster with the relevance of endocrine, signal transduction, hematopoietic cell and immune deficiencies etc. It is confirmed that the intrinsic biological features of TCM syndrome can effectively identify in the NEI level. Conclusion Literature mining method as a new way to discover syndromes biological indicators has certain feasibility, and it is recommended to be further expanded into other studies on syndromes to validate the universality and reliability of this method.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the research status of domestic TCM systems biology in recent ten years, and provide reference for further research. Methods TCM systems biology literatures published in domestic journal were retrieved and screened. The data were analyzed from the annual distribution, regional distribution, research institutions, source journals, research fields, and so on. Results The total literature of TCM systems biology showed an increasing tendency. The research mainly distributed in TCM chemical matteromics, TCM genomics, TCM proteomics, TCM metabolomics, and TCM informatics. Beijing, Guangdong and Shanghai were in the leading position. Conclusion The development trend of domestic study on TCM systems biology is rising year by year, and the understanding of the subject is continuously improving.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo analyze the different effects of spiral progress method and traditional method used in computer teaching in TCM colleges and universities.MethodsStudents were divided into the groups of spiral and traditional. At the end of the course, students would have a course examination. Results Students in spiral group got better scores than students in traditional group (P<0.05).Conclusion Using spiral progress method in computer teaching in TCM colleges and universities can help students develop the right thinking model and scientific learning method. It can also improve students’ ability to use computer knowledge in TCM study and research.

ABSTRACT

“Mechanical memory” approach was commonly used in the knowledge learning of traditional Chinese medicine, which makes students often feel that the knowledge is too abstract, and this method is thus ineffective. “Qihuang the way” using Unity 3D game development platform inte-grates the elements of medical knowledge of the Chinese medical history, and combines TCM theoretical knowledge learning with serious games , which can help invoke students' enthusiasm and improve learning efficiency in an entertaining way.
